چکیده

We study a cubic lattice gas model for nuclear matter where each lattice site can be either occupied, by one proton or one neutron, or unoccupied. A nearest-neighbor interaction of the form − J ij τ zi τ zj is assumed. Our model is an isospin-1 Ising model, with τ z = (1,0,-1) representing respectively (proton, vacancy, neutron). A kinetic-energy term has been included in our model. Under the Bragg-Williams mean field approximation our model exhibits the existence of a dense phase (liquid-like) and a rare phase (gas-like). The nuclear-matter p-v isotherms given by our model are discussed.

An isospin lattice-gas model, which is a spin-1 Ising model, is employed to investigate the liquid-gas phase transition in asymmetric nuclear matter. We consider nuclear matter as a lattice where each lattice site can be either empty or occupied by a proton or a neutron, with a nearest-neighbor interaction among the nucleons. With the Bragg-Williams mean field approximation, we calculate variou...

Chiral dynamics of nuclear matter at finite temperature

We extend a recent calculation of nuclear matter in the systematic framework of chiral perturbation theory to finite temperatures T . The contributions from oneand two-pion exchange diagrams which cause nuclear binding and saturation at T = 0 are included for T > 0 in the density and temperature dependent free energy per particle, F̄ (ρ, T ). The calculated pressure isotherms display the familia...

Chemical and mechanical instability in hot isospin - asymmetric nuclear matter

Using phenomenological equations of state, we study the chemical and mechanical instabilities in hot isospin-asymmetric nuclear matter. Both instabilities are found to depend strongly on the isospin asymmetry of the nuclear matter. For a chemically and mechanically stable asymmetric nuclear matter, a lower neutron excess is found in the liquid phase than in the gas phase. Furthermore, the neutr...

Isospin effects in the thermodynamics of finite nuclei

It has been proposed that multifragmentation can be related to the liquid-gas phase transition of nuclear matter. We study the statistical properties of finite nuclear matter near the phase transition with the help of a Lattice Gas Model (LGM). The original version of LGM with only one type of charge-neutral particles is well known to feature the properties of the liquid-gas phase transition. I...

Lattice QCD at finite isospin density

Nuclear matter has finite baryon number density, finite (negative) isospin density and, under certain conditions, finite (negative) strangeness density. Since having a finite chemical potential for baryon number makes the fermion determinant complex and simulations intractable, we restrict ourselves to zero baryon-number chemical potential. QCD at finite chemical potential μI for isospin (I3) a...
